MACHINERY AND METAL TECHNOLOGIES DEPARTMENT MACHINE PROGRAM

Machine Program

The Machine Vocational Program, initiated in the 2013-2014 academic year, is a two-year vocational education program that provides knowledge and skills in industrial machining and non-machining manufacturing methods, along with other production processes, computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD-CAM), maintenance and repair techniques, measurement and quality control, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and material identification and inspection (both destructive and non-destructive).

The rapid growth of the manufacturing sector, coupled with the pivotal role of CNC machines and CAD-CAM programs in modern production, has made graduates of the "Mechanical Vocational Program" highly sought-after and widely employed professionals in the field. Equipped with theoretical and practical education, these graduates serve as vital intermediaries between the production engineer responsible for overseeing manufacturing and the craftsman/foreman/worker executing production. They ensure technical communication and act as central pillars within enterprises. Graduates are responsible for the efficient operation of machines and workers, as well as achieving the desired product quality and standards.

Mission, Vision and Objectives

MISSION
Recognizing the strategic importance of 21st-century information and communication technologies, our vocational school has adopted the mission of training qualified technical personnel.

VISION
To become a pioneering vocational school that adopts an innovative, research-oriented, and inquisitive approach to train technical personnel equipped with the knowledge and skills to meet industry expectations; follows scientific and technological developments; achieves national and international success; and contributes to universal science.

OBJECTIVES

  • To train individuals with strong theoretical knowledge and advanced practical skills in their profession.
  • To develop proficiency in advanced computer applications and professional technology use.
  • To foster individuals motivated to continuously improve themselves and stay updated with emerging technologies.
  • To cultivate professionals who are aware of work ethics, environmental consciousness, and social responsibilities.

Mechanical Program

The Mechanical Program aims to equip students with the necessary vocational knowledge through hands-on courses. For this purpose:

CNC Laboratory: This laboratory is equipped with tools for teaching the use of CNC machines and conducting machining operations. Courses such as CNC Turning Technology and CNC Milling Technology are offered in different semesters in this lab. Students can observe the simulations of programs they create on control panels and practice directly on the machines. The laboratory includes one CNC lathe, one CNC milling machine, and Fanuc control units with computers available for each student. Additionally, the Swansoft software is used on these computers to provide CNC simulation training on different machines and control units. The CNC machines are designed for educational purposes and allow for processing various types of metal and plastic materials.

The EMCO Concept Turn 60 lathe provides movement of 60/280 mm on the X/Z axes.

The EMCO Concept Mill 55 offers movement of 190/140/260 mm on the X/Y/Z axes.

Hydraulics and Pneumatics Laboratory: Within the Hydraulics and Pneumatics course, basic hydraulic and pneumatic circuits are built using essential hydraulic and pneumatic components in this lab.

Computer Laboratory: These labs are used for basic computer education, vocational and technical drawing, computer-aided design, and manufacturing, with sample applications being carried out.

Material Laboratory: Activities such as metallographic analysis and mechanical tests are conducted in this lab. Students also perform cutting and shaping of metal and plastic materials, drilling, screwing, and assembly using hand tools. Other activities include preparing molds from various materials for epoxy and ceramic clay casting, aluminum melting, and casting.

Welding Laboratory: In the welding laboratory, students practice shielded metal arc welding as part of the Welding Technologies course.
